Benita J. Shepherd, age 88, of Crowell, Texas, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Crowell. Visitation will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11 A.M. at the Riverview Cemetery, with Ben Shero of Lubbock, Texas officiating.

Benita was born October 15, 1929 in Seymour, Texas, to Ben and Charlye Woodward Dixon. She married Phillip "Red" Shepherd on June 8, 1959 in Vernon. He passed away October 17, 1994. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ogden Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Skipper Shepherd and wife, Janet of Crowell, Texas; two brothers, Doug Dixon of Seymour, Texas, and Gary Dixon and wife, Carol of Seymour, Texas; 1 sister, Gloria Edwards and husband, J.R. of Thalia, Texas; 1 granddaughter, Alyssa Shepherd Perez and husband, Juan of Thalia, Texas; one grandson, Richard Shepherd and fiancee Dominique of Crowell, Texas; three great-granddaughters Parker, Skipper Kate and Addison; and four nephews, Mike Horton of Seymour, Texas, James Edwards of Crowell, Texas, Gary Edwards of Lockett, Texas, and Lance Dixon of Seymour, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Jerre Horton and a nephew, Robert Edwards.
