John Ben Elder, age 74, of Seymour, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in Seymour.
Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Seymour Masonic Cemetery, with Joe Mac Petit officiating. Services are under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.

John was born March 17, 1944 in Gonzales, Texas, to Pleas and Minnie Elder. He was a road construction foreman for many years. He is survived by his wife, Theresa of Seymour, Texas; his four-legged children, Hollie Berrie, Tiny and Bellia; a brother, Donald Ray Elder of Leesville, Texas; a nephew, Jeff Elder and wife, Cathy of Leesville, Texas; a great-nephew, J.J. Elder; 2 great-nieces, Sarah Elizabeth Elder and Ashley Nicole Wishert; and a great-great-niece, Brooklyn Wishert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Jeanette Gutierrez; a brother-in-law, Alex Gutierrez; four sisters, one brother, and his son, James Allen Elder.

Visitation will be held at 5 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
