Obituary

Karen Linn Miller, 66, of San Angelo, after a lengthy battle with diabetes and complications, was received into heaven on May 26, 2016. "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" Phillipians 4:4

Karen was born in Seymour, Texas, on September 19, 1949, to Estes and Modena Hewitt Miller. Karen was the youngest of four children, growing up on a farm in Baylor County. Working and playing on the farm occupied most of Karen's summers, along with spending time with many cousins who visited. She also spent a great deal of time with her grandparents, who were a significant influence in her life. Keeping up with her older siblings and cousins was a challenge and her witty comebacks to situations are still quoted by family members.

Karen attended schools in Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School in 1968. While in school, she enjoyed playing drums in the marching and concert bands, and participating in school functions. She enjoyed her classmates and attended each class reunion for years.

After graduation from high school, she then attended South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, graduating with an associates degree. Karen's career included working for data processing companies in Dallas, Wichita Falls and San Angelo. She was a long time employee of GTE in San Angelo.

Professing her belief in Jesus, Karen was baptized as a young child. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Seymour.

Karen's interests included reading, shopping, computer games and sports on tv. She was a fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys in particular. She also enjoyed her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, keeping up with their lives and activities. Every Christmas she sent a special ornament to each family. In spite of her poor health, Karen always displayed a congenial and optimistic attitude.

Karen is survived by her sister, Janet Hudgins and husband Dean of San Angelo; brother Larry Miller and wife, Annette, of Seymour, and sister, Minda Parks and husband Don of Midland. She is also survived by nieces Alisen Hudgins Sanders and husband, Brandon of San Angelo, Chelsi Miller Orsak and husband, Chris of Seymour, Charla Parks Bibby of Allen, nephews Ryan Miller and wife, Mandy, of Seymour, and Brint Parks and wife, Disa of Arlington. Also surviving are great nieces, Ethne and Ella Miller, Blake Bibby, Aasra Parks, and great-nephews, Bryson, Jackson, and Mason Sanders, Jake Orsak, Burke Bibby, and River Parks. She is also survived by her aunt, Orene Covington of Wichita Falls.

Karen was precedeased by her parents, and a great niece Calliope Parks.

Graveside services will be held at the Masonic Cemetery in Seymour at 11 A.M
on July 23, 2016. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, Md. 20752. This organization supports direct financial assistance to kidney patients for medical care such as dialysis, or to a favorite charity.

Many thanks go to the doctors and nurses on staff at Community Hospital and Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, and Zale Lipshy Hospital in Dallas for Karen's care. And thank you to Regency House in San Angelo for providing a caring home atmosphere for Karen.
