Obituary

Linda Kaye Powell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. She was a faithful follower of Christ and was proud to have been baptized in the Church of Christ. Linda was 79 years old and lived in Whitehouse, Texas.
Linda was born in Knox City, Texas, on June 9, 1944, to Dudley Bob Myers and Ruby Horne Myers of Red Springs, Texas. She had five siblings and graduated from Seymour High School. On August 3, 1963, she married the late Bill Powell, also of Red Springs. They had three children and lived in various towns in Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. Linda took care of the children and home as Bill worked lengthy hours. She was a talented seamstress, crocheter and manufacturer of beautiful Christmas stockings for everyone in the family. Even with those hobbies her greatest skill was cooking, especially fried chicken, red velvet and chocolate cakes, pecan pies, bread and biscuits. When Bill retired, they traveled across the United States in their motor home, often being gone for several months. Family was very important to Linda, and she always made every effort to be present at family events.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Kathy Parker and husband Charles of Whitehouse, Texas, Kimberly Waldo and husband James of Temple, Texas and Kelly Powell of Lubbock Texas. She was a loving Grana and adored her grandchildren, Jacob Parker and wife Jessica of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Zachary Waldo of Temple, Texas, Kayla Huang and husband Hank of Taipei, Taiwan, Andrew Waldo and wife Shea of New Caney, Texas and Austin Waldo of Temple, Texas. Linda also had three great grandchildren, Alexandra and Shepherd Parker of Tulsa and Kobe James Waldo of New Caney. Her surviving siblings are Dudley Eugene Myers, James Earl Myers, Margie Myers, Jerry Don Myers and Diane Karr. Linda is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Linda was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Bill Powell, her parents, D.B. and Ruby Myers, her brother-in-law, Richard Powell, her sisters-in-law, Nellie Zachry and Lois Myers, her niece, Heather Myers Barnes and her nephew David Eric Myers.
