Velma Jane Grimes, age 75, passed away Tuesday morning at the Seymour Hospital. Funeral services were held at 3 P.M. Friday at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Martin, pastor of the Gospel Light Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grimes was born November 6, 1937 in Comanche, Texas. She married Wesley Grimes, Sr. on May 14, 1956 in Graham, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Wesley Grimes, Sr. of Seymour, Texas; two daughters, Sandra Carter of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Velma Jean Watson of Weatherford, Texas; 3 sons, Wesley Grimes, Jr. of Springtown, Texas, and Jerry Grimes and James Grimes of Seymour, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and by two sisters, Bessie Atchley of Bowie, Texas, and Fay Michaels of Breckenridge, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward and Bessie Turnbow Lancaster; a sister, Geneva Lancaster; and by four brothers, J.R. and Emmitt Lancaster, and Jack and Kenneth Henson.
