Nevelyn Jane Holcomb Montgomery was born October 8, 1932 in Graham, Texas to Effie Paris Holcomb and Edward L. Holcomb. She went to meet her Lord and Savior on November 20, 2022, in Seymour, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home Chapel for Nevelyn on Saturday, November 26, at 11:00am.
Nevelyn graduated from Graham High School in 1950. After high school she worked as a telephone operator in Graham.
On February 23, 1952, Nevelyn married Kenneth Hibbitts. From that marriage, they had 4 children: Connie, Kerry, Neal, and Kenneth Jr. From that time on, she was a housewife and homemaker.
Nevelyn married James P. (Paschal) Montgomery on March 7, 1975 and moved to Seymour.
Aside from being a homemaker, she was involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Nevelyn also had a passion as a spokesperson for the elderly by becoming an Ombudsman for the Texas Department of Aging.
Nevelyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband James Paschal Montgomery, brothers Jefferson Burr Holcomb, Charles Leslie (CL) Holcomb, James Holcomb, Carlos Holcomb, sister, Etta Mae Wood, son Kenneth Hibbitts, Jr., and daughter-in-law Coleta Hibbitts.
She is survived by her children Connie Hibbitts of Seymour, Kerry (Susan) Hibbitts of Abilene, and Neal (Barbara) Hibbitts of Weatherford, and step-children Linda Robertson, Danny Montgomery, and Dale Montgomery.
Also surviving are grandchildren Kara Barbee, Rogan Hibbitts, Brian Hibbitts, Kayla Hibbitts, Kendall Hibbitts, Callie Hibbitts, Billy Hibbitts, Amy Hibbitts, Michael Robertson, Adrian Montgomery, Samantha Montgomery, and great grand-daughter Evie Barbee. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to the employees and staff of Seymour Rehab and Healthcare for all of the love and care they have shown Nevelyn over the years.
Memorials may be made in Nevelyn Montgomery’s honor to the Seymour Child Welfare Board.
