It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Justin Ray Ermis of Seymour, Texas on April 5, 2023 at the age of 42.

Justin was born on May 22, 1980 to Jerry and Kathy Ermis in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was raised in Seymour on his parents’ farm, and from a very young age he began working alongside his father and brother at the farm. After Justin graduated from Seymour High School in 1998, he went on to study diesel mechanics at Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater.

After graduating from TSTC, Justin returned to his hometown of Seymour and pursued his passion in farming and construction with his best friend and brother, Jeremy Ermis. They together created a thriving business and partnership in the farming and construction industries that later included a cousin they consider more like a brother, Pete Ermis.

In 2008, Justin met Emily after growing up only a couple of miles apart down a county road from one another. Justin and Emily were married in 2010 and went on to have 5 children, Olivia (10), Sophia (8), Amelia (8), Magnolia (4), and Jack.

Justin was a loving, compassionate, giving, and sacrificial dad, husband, brother, son, and friend. His daughters and wife were his absolute joy. He was so proud and eager to show off his girls any chance he could. He was an active and giving member of his community and had a heart the size of Texas. He was also actively involved in assisting the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department by donating to and cooking for the annual Jerry Ermis Memorial SVFD Fundraiser.

Justin’s family and friends are devastated by his departure, and we will always love and miss him until we can meet again. He leaves a huge void in all our hearts where we will miss his big hugs, words of encouragement, and sense of humor.

Justin will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 12 years, Emily of Olney; children, Olivia, Amelia, Sophia, Magnolia; mother, Kathy Ermis of Seymour; brother, Jeremy Ermis of Seymour; father-in-law, Richard Morgan of Seymour; mother-in-law, Kim Morgan of Seymour, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Justin was preceded in death by his son, Jack; father, Jerry Ermis; grandparents, Jerome Ermis, Veronica “Frony” Ermis Simaichl, Wallace Jeffress, Annette Jeffress; aunts, Mary Ann Ermis Hall, Marlene Ermis; and uncle, Pete Ermis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 12 at the First Baptist Church in Seymour and burial in Seymour Catholic Cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home and David Warren officiating.

Pallbearers are: Cody Wright, Adam Smajstrla, Mark Beach, Kenneth Hons, Eric Latham, & Jason Stroebel.
