Christina Elizabeth Burgess
January 19, 1951 - February 1, 2023
The family of Christina Elizabeth Burgess would like to announce the passing of her life here on Earth not with sadness, but with the joy that she is reunited with her beloved husband Clarence and other family members who passed before her. She took her last breath here on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 Christina was born on January 19,1951 in West Virginia and lived a full and wonderful life. She was a daughter to Beatrice Epperson, and a sister to Regina Staggs, both of whom preceded her. She watched as two of her children also preceded her in death- infant Steven and her oldest adult daughter Heather. She is survived by her two remaining adult children Stephanie and McKinley Stevenson. She lived her life mainly in Florida, Kentucky, and Wichita Falls, Texas where she worked at United Regional as a Dietician before finally settling down in Seymour, Texas in her retirement years. Christina’s life was filled with so much love and her family was her joy. She often talked about being blessed with two wonderful men in her life. Her first husband was James Edward Stevenson and the father to her four children. While they did not remain married they stayed great friends through their lives and shared laughter and memories that will live on through their children and grandchildren. Later in her life when she met Clarence Burgess she would say that he had been her perfect match and the greatest love of her life. Together they blended their families to add his wonderful children Clarence Burgess 3rd and his twins Tracy and Stacy. She had a full life also as a grandmother enjoying time spent with each grandchild and the announcement of each great- grandchild. With over 40 grand and great grandchildren even she could lose track of the numbers when gathered together at different times. Christmas being her favorite time to see all the kids on the floor enjoying their gifts with laughter. Christina’s last wish was not to see tears, but to ask that her family and friends remember her as healthy and happy. She left us not to grieve but to rejoice in the fact that she was able to return to Clarence’s loving embrace and hold his hand once again. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. |
